The Nev-R-Dun Farm 2016 CSA is actually a partnership of two farms, Nev-R-Dun Farm and R&R Farm. The farms lie .7 miles apart and all of the lands on the farms are Certified Organic by the State of Maryland’s Department of Agriculture’s Organic Certification Program.
Nev-R-Dun Farm has been primarily an organic vegetable and herb farm, with a few fruits also grown. The farm is run by Tom Reinhardt, who first got the property certified organic in 2001.
In 2010, Jen and Kirk Robertson bought the property on the corner of Stone and Murkle Road and R&R Farm was founded. In 2011, their farm was officially registered organic. R&R Farm raises chickens, turkeys, cattle and pigs on registered organic pasture.
Through the partnering of our two farms, we will not only be able to intermesh the complex details involved in pastured animal raising and organic vegetable farming, but we will also be able to offer more variety through our CSA. This year we will have our usual organic vegetable/herb CSA, plus we will be offering pork, beef and egg shares through the CSA as well. We will be offering pastured broiler chickens on a pre-order basis.
Also for 2016, we will be offering shares from other local, organic farms/operations. We will be offering organic apple shares from Oyler’s Organic Farms in Biglersville, Pa., certified naturally grown flower shares from Tierra Blooms in Taneytown, organic bread shares from Old Valley Farm in Taneytown and organic dairy products from Trickling Springs Creamery in Chambersburg, Pa. Below are descriptions of each of these options.
